North/South jobs divide continues
Huge variations in job prospects across the UK have been revealed in a new study, which shows that Aberdeen is now the easiest place to find work. The Scottish city has overtaken Cambridge as the best city to get a job, with more vacancies than jobseekers, buoyed by the oil and gas industry.
Southern English cities dominate the rest of the jobs "hotspot" list, suggesting a continuing North/South divide, said job search website Adzuna.
Hull is the hardest city in which to find work, with 80 applicants per vacancy, followed by Stoke-on-Trent, Southend, the Wirral and Motherwell, said the report.
London is said to be "awash" with demand for secretaries and estate agents, while Belfast tops the list for call centre staff.
